Update on violent dog attacks in Palatine

PALATINE, Ill.- On Wednesday, June 30, one of the owners of the dogs who attacked two people and their dogs in Palatine will plead guilty to more serious charges in exchange for lesser charges being dropped.  As a result, The dogs will not be euthanized and instead moved out of Palatine to another town or village.

The Plaintiffs in the case, Amanda Ingram and Chase Braun, are understandably very upset with this decision to not euthanize the dogs, as are the attorneys who represent them.

“My partner Brian Salvi and I are disappointed and frustrated in today’s plea deal between the dogs’ owner Meleina Teodoro and the Village of Palatine. While Ms. Teodoro is pleading guilty to some charges, she is being let off the hook for other charges. Most importantly, the Village, by relocating the dogs to another community, has failed to take the proper and necessary action. The Village is simply moving the problem elsewhere for another community to deal with. This is a missed opportunity for the Village to send a clear message that irresponsible dog owners and their aggressive dogs will not be tolerated in any town, village or city,” Plaintiff’s attorney Michael J. Schostok said in a statement.

The parties will appear at a hearing today, Wednesday June 30 at 1:30 p.m., at the Village of Palatine Police Headquarters (595 N. Hicks Road, Palatine, IL).

The attorneys and the victims who were brutally attacked during the violent attacks are available for interviews after the hearing.
