Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard obtains $1.25 million settlement for motorcyclist injured in Lake County truck collision

Tara and Jaclyn

WAUKEGAN, Ill. (November 4, 2022) – Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard attorneys Tara R. Devine and Jaclyn J. Kurth recently obtained a $1,250,000 settlement on behalf of a motorcyclist who was injured in a 2020 crash with a truck.

On August 15, 2020, 50-year-old Plaintiff was driving his motorcycle southbound on Illinois Route 83 near the intersection of Main Street in Antioch, Illinois, and Defendant was driving a Ford F350 with an accompanying trailer on the roadway. Defendant, who was driving on behalf of his own dredging and excavating company, attempted to cross all lanes of traffic from one driveway into another, striking Plaintiff’s motorcycle in the process. As a result of the collision, Plaintiff suffered leg fractures with compartment syndrome that required surgeries and hospitalization.

Plaintiff filed a personal injury lawsuit against the Defendant and his company in October of 2021, alleging the truck driver failed to keep a proper lookout, apply his brakes, and yield to the right of way.

On October 17, 2022, the parties entered into a settlement agreement that included policy limits for both the truck and its trailer, totaling $1,250,000.00.

“We are pleased to have come to an agreement on this settlement. Our client is looking forward to moving forward and continuing the recovery process,” Plaintiffs attorney Tara R. Devine said.
