Patrick A. Salvi II honored by Crain’s Chicago Business as a top trial attorney in Chicago

CHICAGO (March 13, 2023) – Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, P.C. is pleased to announce Chicago Managing Partner Patrick A. Salvi II has been honored by Crain’s Chicago Business as one of the “Notable Litigators and Trial Attorneys in Chicago.”

The litigators and trial attorneys honored by Crain’s have fought headline-making courtroom battles, in several cases on opposite sides of each other. Honorees were chosen from hundreds of nominations. They must have a partner or partner-equivalent status at a Chicago-area law firm, been in practice for a minimum of 10 years, and have made a measurable and specific impact in their field – including pro bono work, mentoring other attorneys, promoting inclusive practices in the workplace, and showing leadership outside of their organization via involvement in civic or professional organizations.

“Off the clock, they epitomize all that the Latin phrase pro bono – ‘for the public good’ – represents,” Crain’s states in the official announcement in the March 13 issue.

Patrick A. Salvi II is the managing partner of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard’s Chicago office, where he concentrates his legal practice on cases concerning personal injury, medical malpractice, mass torts, and product liability. Last year, Mr. Salvi took the first case against medical device sterilization plant Sterigenics to trial on behalf of breast cancer survivor Sue Kamuda. Sue was one of nearly 800 plaintiffs who filed lawsuits against the Willowbrook plant for toxic emissions. During trial, Mr. Salvi argued Sterigenics knew the risks of using ethylene oxide yet continued to utilize excessive and unnecessary amounts of the carcinogen for decades without warning the community. After a five-week trial, the jury awarded $363 million in compensatory and punitive damages. The verdict is the highest verdict ever awarded to an individual plaintiff in Illinois.

Currently, Mr. Salvi is the President of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, where he is also a co-author of the Medical Malpractice Trial Notebook chapter on Informed Consent. Additionally, Mr. Salvi is active in the American Association for Justice, where he sits on the PAC Board of Trustees, and he is a board member of Legal Aid Chicago, an organization that provides free legal services to people living in poverty.
