CHICAGO (July 18, 2019) – Attorneys representing the victims who have been sickened because they have lived in close proximity to Sterigenics, the medical equipment sterilization facility in Willowbrook, Illinois, will hold a press conference to react to the surprise consent agreement brokered between the Attorney General’s Office, Sterigenics, and the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office. That deal, which is also being submitted to the DuPage County Circuit Court this morning, could allow Sterigenics, currently shuttered, to reopen, putting thousands of lives at risk in the surrounding areas. An Environmental Protection Agency study recently found the cancer risk in the area around Sterigenics to be more than ten times the federal standard.
