Attorney for bicyclist killed along Milwaukee Ave responds to addition of concrete curbs to protected bike lanes

CHICAGO – Wednesday, plans were announced to add concrete curbs to the city of Chicago’s protected bike lanes. Fifteen miles of lanes will be converted by the end of this year, and another 13 miles will be converted in 2023.

One of the areas that will see improvements includes a stretch along the 3800 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, where 22-year-old Nick Parlingayan was killed while riding his bike earlier this year. Attorney Brian Salvi, who is representing Parlingayan’s family, released the following statement:

Sadly, we believe the facts will demonstrate that this tragedy could have been prevented. It is unfortunate that calls for change are only being answered after multiple incidents in this area. While nothing will bring Nick back to his loved ones, his family hopes that holding the city accountable will bring the necessary changes to avoid tragedies like these in the future.
