CHICAGO (January 8, 2025) – Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard attorneys Brian L. Salvi, Michael J. Schostok, and Marisa A. Gelabert recently obtained a $1,000,000 settlement on behalf of a 32-year-old man who was injured in a Chicago motorcycle collision.
In late summer 2022, Plaintiff was riding his motorcycle in downtown Chicago when a truck turned left in front of him. Plaintiff took emergency steps to avoid hitting the truck and fell on his right side in the process.
As a result, Plaintiff suffered a significant shoulder injury that required surgery and the placement of hardware, among other injuries. He continues to experience right shoulder pain. Defense counsel contested the extent of Plaintiff’s pain and emotional distress, as well as causation.
Testimony of the defendant indicated a failure to yield the right of way, but a liability defense was maintained throughout litigation.
The case was set for trial on December 12, 2024, but settled the day before the start of trial.
