YORKVILLE, Ill. (August 4, 2022) – The family of a Yorkville teen is set to receive $4.25 million in a settlement as a result of a crash that happened last year.
Thirteen-year-old Joey Burdiak was killed in the two vehicle crash on Route 71 near Ravine Court. Police say a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Santos C. Martinez, of Aurora, crossed the center line on Route 71 and hit the vehicle Burdiak was riding in causing it to spin out of control and hit a guardrail. Joey’s father who was driving, Michael Burdiak, was also injured.
