WAUKEGAN (November 26, 2024) – A former mentee of late Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard attorney Elizabeth Olszewski recently graduated from college and was quoted in Waukegan To College’s 2024 Annual Report. In her testimonial, Aliyah Plummer honored Elizabeth’s memory and remembered her as a pivotal person during her time with the Waukegan To College program.
Elizabeth dedicated much of her time outside the office to volunteering with Waukegan to College, a non-profit organization committed to helping students overcome barriers such as language and financial limitations in the college application process. The program supports students starting as early as 5th grade, offering guidance and resources to navigate the application process, secure college acceptance, and obtain financial aid.
Over the years, Elizabeth regularly met with her mentee, Aliyah, offering invaluable advice and encouragement to maximize her chances of being accepted into a college of her choice. Elizabeth joined Aliyah on college visits and assisted with her college application essays.
Aliyah graduated with a degree in Biology and a minor in Public Health from the University of Illinois Springfield this year. Below is the testimonial she provided in Waukegan to College’s annual report:
“Waukegan to College has been a cornerstone in my journey, from high school through my four years of college. As a first generation student from an immigrant family, every challenge I faced in college was new, uncharted territory, but Waukegan to College’s unwavering support made all the difference. Whether it was helping me secure scholarships, amazing internship experiences, or the invaluable mentorship experience I had with my mentor Elizabeth Olszewski, they were always wholly devoted to my success. Waukegan to College not only opened the door to higher education for me but also ensured that I was able to thrive and succeed within the college environment. I truly believe I wouldn’t be where I am today without the community and guidance Waukegan to College provided me. They supported me academically and also helped me navigate the personal hardships that arose along the way. I’m forever grateful for everything they’ve done.” stated Ms. Plummer.
Elizabeth’s legacy continues to touch those who were fortunate to know her.
