Brett McDaniel, 13, was riding his bicycle with a friend on Rosalie Street in Golconda, Illinois, just a block from his home, when he was struck and killed by a Mercy Regional Emergency Medical Service ambulance. Mr. Salvi and his trial team alleged the ambulance was traveling over the speed limit and “failed to exercise care to avoid colliding with a person riding a bicycle.” They also argued the ambulance did not have its lights or sirens on when the accident occurred.
A trial in the case began in Pope County, Illinois on June 17, 2014 and concluded with a jury awarded $1.2 million to Brett’s family. Read more about the case here.
“The Result” is a podcast presented by Preferred Capital Funding where trial lawyers share details about recent verdicts and how they achieved the result.
