CHICAGO (November 11, 2021) – The insurer of a Chicago-based nonprofit has agreed to pay $11 million to resolve a suit accusing an employee of falling asleep at the wheel and hitting a man who was helping a woman in a disabled vehicle, resulting in the loss of one of his legs.
“This is a tragic case — a Good Samaritan was just trying to help a woman in need and ended up losing his leg because of the driver and defendant company’s negligence,” Plaintiff’s attorney Patrick A. Salvi said in a statement to Law 360.
