WAUKEGAN, Ill. – A former Lake County special education teacher’s aide accused of sexually assaulting and abusing a disabled student has pleaded guilty to two of 17 charges he faced. Last week, Israel Suaste-Gonzalez, 50, admitted he abused the student at least five times between 2016 and 2018.
Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard represents the student’s parents in their civil suit against the Special Education District of Lake County for failing to protect their daughter. Attorney Tara Devine told the Daily Herald now that Suaste-Gonzalez has pleaded guilty, the civil lawsuit will begin to move forward.
