Cook County Jury Grants $10.5M to Husband in Fatal Dump Truck Bicycle Accident Case

CHICAGO (March 19, 2025) – A Cook County jury awarded $10.5 million to the widower of a woman who was killed after a collision with a dump truck. The woman was a beloved kindergarten teacher at Long Grove Country School when the incident occurred in 2022.

In March 2023 the husband of the late Sylwia Jarosz filed a lawsuit to hold responsible parties accountable. Defendants admitted liability shortly before trial and a damages-only trial began on March 11, 2025, before The Honorable John P. Kirby.
