Woman, Baby Killed in Multi-vehicle Crash Near Lake Villa

LAKE VILLA, Ill. (December 20, 2019) – A woman and a boy were killed, another child was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition and three others were injured in a three-car crash near Lake Villa Thursday night.

Around 5:20 p.m., police say a woman was driving a 2017 Nissan SUV with two children in the backseat northbound on Route 59 at Beach Avenue when a 2014 Ford pick-up truck with a trailer attempted to merge from the shoulder in front of the Nissan. The Nissan hit the Ford, rolled-over, and as it was sliding, it was struck by a 2007 Hyundai Minivan.

The female driver of the Nissan and a male child passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. A female child passenger of the Nissan was airlifted to Lutheran General Hospital in critical condition.

The adult male driver in the minivan and a male teen passenger were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in serious condition. The adult male driver of the Ford sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center, WBBM-Radio reports.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Unit and autopsies of the victims were scheduled for Friday morning.
