5 Injured in Rogers Park Car Crash

CHICAGO (June 18, 2024) – Five people were critically injured after a speeding driver crashed Wednesday evening in the Rogers Park neighborhood. FOX 32 reports three children and two adults were taken to the hospital after the incident and left in critical condition.

A 13-year-old boy was riding his bike near the intersection of Jonquil Terrace and Marshfield Avenue when he was struck by a speeding Volkswagen just after 6 p.m. The Volkswagen then hit another car with enough force to flip the car on its side and throw it into the alley nearby, CBS reports.

The young boy managed to walk away with minor injuries.

The young boy’s mother witnessed the crash and stated, “It was so fast you didn’t even see the car coming. You just heard it.”

The other car, a blue Nissan, held a family of four, including two adults in their 40s and two children ages 10 and 7. All were injured at the scene and are still recovering.

The Volkswagen was reported stolen, and the driver fled the scene on foot after the collision, CBS reports. Witnesses on the scene said the police were pursuing the car at the time of the crash.

The driver is not in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
