GURNEE, Ill (April 3, 2025) – A 33-year-old woman was fatally struck by a truck while crossing the street in Gurnee Wednesday night.
ABC 7 reports paramedics responded to the 2100 block of North Delany Road around 8:05 p.m. and found a woman who suffered “significant trauma throughout her body,” Gurnee Fire Department Battalion Chief Jim Gramer said. The female victim was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene, according to Gramer.
An alert was broadcast to nearby police departments reporting that the vehicle involved had fled the scene. Further investigation determined the Ford E450 truck had pulled off the roadway into a business immediately following the crash, the Gurnee Police Department said. He added that the driver was cooperating with officers throughout the investigation.
The crash remains under investigation, and additional details will be released as they become available, FOX 32 reported.
