Exercise shows participants challenges poverty-stricken individuals face daily.
CHICAGO (July 19, 2018) – The legal system is complex and intimidating for anyone, especially for someone living in poverty and unable to hire an attorney. That’s why Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C., Partner Patrick A. Salvi II dedicates his time to being a part of the board of directors of the Legal Assistance Foundation, an organization that makes equal justice a reality by providing free legal services to people living in poverty.
As part of Mr. Salvi’s involvement with the organization, he hosted a “poverty simulation” at the Salvi Law offices on Wednesday, July 18 to help employees understand how difficult the legal system can be to navigate for the less fortunate and meanwhile, demonstrate the importance of the LAF’s mission.
The exercise consisted of a two hour educational experience that sent participants through the different trials a poverty-stricken person may experience. After the eye-opening simulation, a facilitated discussion allowed the group to share insights they learned during the program.
