CHICAGO (January 13, 2025) – One person died after a 19-year-old man crashed into another vehicle in Oak Lawn while under the influence. The collision occurred just after 3 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7 near Southwest Highway and Cicero Avenue, according to Yahoo!news.
The intoxicated driver was reported to be traveling at a high rate of speed heading south on Southwest Highway when it struck the other car. His vehicle stopped at the southwest corner of the intersection, while the other vehicle was forced into an unoccupied oil change business at 4821 W. Southwest Highway, police reported.
Individuals from both vehicles were transported to nearby hospitals. The driver of the impacted vehicle later died from injuries sustained in the crash. A juvenile passenger in that vehicle suffered serious injuries and is still hospitalized.
The intoxicated driver was later charged with felony reckless homicide, aggravated driving under the influence, and driving under the influence causing death. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
