ROCKFORD, Ill. (November 18, 2016) – Attorneys Brian L. Salvi, Patrick A. Salvi II and Andrew J. Burkavage of the law firm Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C., obtained a $1.4 million verdict on behalf of a woman who was injured in a Roscoe, Ill. parking lot car accident.
On June 14, 2010, Stacy Stepancik-Goff was parked in a Roscoe, Ill. parking lot around 7:15 p.m. when Janice Warner struck Ms. Stepancik-Goff’s vehicle from behind. The impact of the collision caused Ms. Stepancik-Goff’s vehicle to thrust over a parking bumper and into the building in front of her car.
Following the collision, Ms. Stepancik-Goff was diagnosed with cervical disc herniations at C5-C6 and C6-C7. She experienced neck pain, shoulder pain, radiating arm pain, numbness, and neuropathic pain. To this day, Ms. Stepancik-Goff still suffers chronic neuropathic pain, post-traumatic stress, and symptoms of depression from the collision.
Prior to the trial, Ms. Warner admitted she caused the collision due to speeding, failure to keep a proper lookout, failure to control her vehicle, and failure to properly apply her brakes. However, the defendant contested causation and the nature and extent of Ms. Stepancik-Goff’s injuries.
“The injuries Stacy suffered in this crash have changed her life for more than six years and will continue to impact her for the rest of her life,” Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. attorney Brian L. Salvi said. “This verdict will help compensate Stacy for the treatment she has received after the accident and will continue to receive for her intense pain and emotional trauma.”
On Thursday, November 17, 2016, a Winnegabo County jury awarded Ms. Stepancik-Goff a $1.4 million verdict. For more information on this case or to schedule an interview with the attorneys, please contact Marcie Mangan at (312) 372-1227 or mmangan@salvilaw.com.
