CHICAGO (October 3, 2023) — A Cook County jury awarded $32,747,000 on September 29 to a young man who had to undergo a foot amputation after two physicians failed to recognize signs of a blood clot, despite clear signs of a blood clot and a medical history that made him more prone to clots.
The jury awarded $9.5 million for past and future loss of a normal life; $10.5 million for past and future pain and suffering; $6.6 million for past and future emotional distress; and $1.1 million for past and future medical expenses, among other awards, according to plaintiff’s counsel.
