CHICAGO (July 11, 2023) – A woman who filed a lawsuit saying she was prematurely discharged from a hospital after a hysterectomy despite showing signs of an infection accepted a $1 million settlement after suing in Cook County Circuit Court.
The parties reached an agreement pre-trial on June 5 with the assistance of Cook County Circuit Court Judge Elizabeth M. Budzinski. The Plaintiffs were represented by David J. Rashid and Rob L. Kohen of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, P.C.
“I think it’s a great result for Mrs. Hughes,” David J. Rashid told the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. “The pain and suffering that she experienced was because of the fact that she was essentially not followed diligently at the hospital by Dr. Miller. When she was discharged, she experienced an enormous amount of pain and suffering that wasn’t necessary and that could have been avoided with more vigilant care.”
