PONTIAC TOWNSHIP, Ill. (January 14, 2021) – Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard Partner Jennifer L. Ashley recently obtained a $1,600,000 settlement on behalf of a woman who was injured in a crash with a semi-truck during a 2018 blizzard.
On March 24, 2018, Plaintiff was riding as a passenger in a car traveling southbound on I-55 near mile marker 196 in Pontiac Township, Illinois. A semi-truck attempted to stop for traffic that had slowed in the area, but slid on ice and snow. The trailer of the truck swung out and hit the car in which Plaintiff was a passenger, as well as several other vehicles.
As a result of the crash, Plaintiff suffered aggravation to her cervical spine and underwent an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion procedure at C5-6 and C6-7. The surgery unfortunately did not alleviate Plaintiff’s pain and she continues to seek medical treatment.
During a January 12, 2022 mediation with Judge Keith Brown, the parties agreed to a $1,600,000 settlement. The settlement will be paid by defendant trucking company.
