Jennifer M. Cascio joined Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. in 2020 and concentrates her legal practice on cases concerning personal injury, medical negligence, product liability, and mass torts.
Throughout her time with the firm, she has recovered more than $425 million on behalf of her clients.
In her first trial with the firm, Ms. Cascio was part of a trial team that won a record-breaking $363 million jury verdict for a Willowbrook woman who developed breast cancer from breathing carcinogenic emissions from the medical device sterilization plant Sterigenics. The verdict was the largest jury verdict ever awarded to an individual plaintiff in Illinois history at the time of the trial.
Most recently, Ms. Cascio was part of a trial team that won a record-breaking $32.7 million jury verdict on behalf of a man who had to undergo a below-the-knee foot amputation after doctors failed to recognize signs of a blood clot, despite clear indicators and a medical history that made him more prone to clots. This verdict is the highest verdict for loss of one leg or foot in Illinois.
Ms. Cascio brings an unparalleled knowledge of the chemical industry to the firm. Prior to joining Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C., Ms. Casio worked at an international law firm where she was a member of the firm’s Energy, Environment and Infrastructure practice group. She has served as national litigation and trial counsel for a multi-billion-dollar corporation. Ms. Cascio has litigated hundreds of cases as lead counsel in both state and federal courts across the country and prides herself on obtaining favorable results for clients. She has experience litigating individual, multi-party, and mass tort actions involving personal injury, wrongful death, property damage, and commercial disputes.
Prior to her work at an international law firm, Ms. Cascio worked at a plaintiff’s personal injury law firm where she gained a passion for helping clients after a catastrophic injury or medical error. She loves that Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. offers her the opportunity to get back to her roots of being a victims’ rights advocate. In advocating for her clients, Ms. Cascio prides herself on getting to know every facet of her client’s lives to not only formulate the best strategies in the courtroom but to help her clients overcome the wide-ranging ramifications of their personal tragedies. Ms. Cascio approaches every client’s case with the delicacy and care she would extend to her nearest and dearest friends and family. Her experience advocating for clients extends beyond the courtroom through drafting legislation, lobbying, and public relations efforts.
During law school, Ms. Cascio served as an editor of two law journals and also served as the Editor-In-Chief of the Law Review. She held a prominent position on numerous national competition teams and was inducted into the Order of the Barristers for her excellence in Trial Advocacy. Ms. Cascio also served as a judicial intern to a former federal judge in the Western District of Missouri.
Ms. Cascio holds memberships in the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, the Chicago Bar Association and the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois.
In her free time, Ms. Cascio enjoys spending time with her husband, who is also a lawyer, and their two young children. Ms. Cascio enjoys teaching her children about the importance of giving back to those in need; and while she has accomplished much in her legal career, nothing makes her more proud than when her children tell their friends that their mom “goes to work every day to help people!”
