Fundraiser to benefit young woman paralyzed by O’Hare bus shelter
Kendra Scott Jewelry to donate 20% of profits to help Tierney Darden
October 8, 2016 (CHICAGO) – Kendra Scott will host a Give Back Event at their Chicago store on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. The company will donate 20 percent of proceeds from both in store and phone orders to Tierney Darden’s Rehabilitation Fund.
Tierney Darden of Mundelein, Illinois had just returned from a trip to Minneapolis with her mother and sister on August 2, 2015 when the bus shelter she was standing next to outside of O’Hare International Airport collapsed onto her during a storm. The accident left Tierney, a 24-year-old dance student, paralyzed from the waist down. Personal injury attorneys from the Chicago law firm of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C., filed a lawsuit on her behalf.
Since the accident, Tierney has had to overcome physical and emotional hurdles. The event coordinator for Kendra Scott Jewelry read about Tierney’s accident and wanted to host a fundraiser to help her.
“Tierney was excited to learn about the fundraiser as she loves jewelry,” her family said.
Tierney has customized a piece of jewelry named “The Tierney” that will be for sale at the event. Event details are as follows:
