$10.8 Million Car Accident Partial Settlement
Principal Attorney Patrick A. Salvi and Matthew L. Williams of the law firm Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C., obtained a 10.8 million dollar settlement on behalf of a 50 year-old man from Lake County who was left disabled after being struck by a car.
On July 22, 2002, Stephen Juhrend, was hit by an automobile while crossing Western Avenue walking to the train station in Lake Forest, Illinois. The lawsuit claimed that Brenna Duffy, the defendant driver, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to yield to a pedestrian. As a result of this negligence, Mr. Juhrend suffered severe damage to his spine and is now permanently disabled.
Prior to the accident, Mr. Juhrend worked for the Walgreens Company. Today Steven is undergoing extensive physical therapy and rehabilitation.
“Unfortunately, I can’t change the fact that Mr. Juhrend will never be able to walk again. But the one thing I can do, is make sure Steven’s needs will be met,” said Patrick A. Salvi. “The settlement proceeds together with what we expect to recover from the remaining defendants, will help modify and equip his home for rehabilitation management. We will try to do whatever is necessary to make sure he receives the extensive care he will require for the rest of his life.”
The defendant driver, paid 2.8 million dollars towards the settlement. A total of $10.8 has been awarded and paid by others. To date, the case remains open as to other various defendants involved in this matter.
