Family of Lake Forest Man Claim Death resulted from Malpractice
COOK COUNTY, IL – A wrongful death lawsuit was filed on May 10th in Cook County by the law firm of Salvi Schostok & Pritchard P.C., on behalf of the estate of a prominent 56-year-old Lake Forest businessman who developed an infection in his hip, which led to a cascade of mistakes that ultimately caused his untimely death.
David Timson, of Lake Forest, a partner for the past 24-years in the private equity investment firm of Adams Street Partners, LLC in Chicago, died unexpectedly on January 2, 2010 at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, IL. A few weeks earlier, on December 16, 2009, David developed an infection in his hip, which was serious but treatable. Kidney failure requiring dialysis became necessary after the surgery. In late December, while still a patient at Glenbrook Hospital, Mr. Timson began to develop a build-up of fluids in his body. According to the lawsuit, David’s treating doctors failed to appropriately monitor David’s build up of fluids that resulted in his not having dialysis for several days. Then, in spite of clear evidence of fluid overload, Timson was given blood without dialysis and this was more than his body could tolerate. Sometime shortly after receiving blood he arrested and died. An autopsy revealed death due to fluid overload.
"David Timson should be home with his family today. He died of malpractice, plain and simple, and we intend on proving it in court," said lead Plaintiff’s attorney Patrick A. Salvi of Salvi Schostok & Pritchard P.C. "My office is firmly committed to obtaining substantial compensation for Mrs. Timson and their two sons."
"He was an avid reader and had passions for fitness, golf, but most importantly he was a devoted husband and father," said his wife Reggie. "He served as an exemplary role model for all of those who were fortunate to know and love him."
